We are a creative homeschooling family of 3. I have homeschooled my 2 boys from the start and we do lots of unit studies and get out into our beautiful part of the world as often as we can.
As the boys are getting older and we are getting busier I find I am posting less about our journey but will continue to update occasionally.

Earth Science

Our unit study this term is Earth Science
We started today and made some new workbooks,
that is Mr6's title page,
Some of the books we are using are
Children's Encyclopedia of Earth- Michael Allaby
The Magic Schoolbus- Inside the Earth
My 2 love the Magic Schoolbus and tell me
if they could go to Miss Frizz's school they would.
Rocks and Fossils
Dinah Zikes Great Science Adventures-
Discovering Earths Landforms and Surface Features
Planet Earth Inside Out -Gail Gibbons
Australian rocks and minerals - John Child
Geology Rocks
DK Eyewitness Books Earth

and while we have been away so much has happened-

Add ImageMr 6s garden has grown so much,
he is eating a cucumber he just picked
Emerald has found a very special friend.
Meet "Saphire", he is Em's mate and they are doing lots of spring things here,
they both freely come and go from her cage
and we have put in a nest box for them in an old water box.
There is a lot of rustling going on in there,
we can hand feed Saphire now.
look what has happened to Mr6's little Nutmeg-
they grow so fast, she lives out in the chook dome now,
and perches up the top with the big chooks,
she is still very friendly and rides on Mr6's shoulder.

OOoooh, look at all those wonderful books! Very inviting!! :)

How is Nutmeg settling with the older chooks? No hen pecking problems?
We weren't game to put our 2 into the main run, so have built them a separate chook tractor.

Alecat, we set up a small little hideout for her to hide in, so she can decide whether to be in the main area or to hide, we have also been feeding her where she can eat undisturbed in her little hide out- her hide out is just her box she used to live in, on its side leaving a little space behind it and behind the laying bins where the big chooks can not get too, her box is a big plastic storage tub so she has good weather protection as well.

Wow! Your post once again makes me feel a little slack in the "school" dept. LOL I go through phases of being totally motivated and then I fall back into my lazy mode. While Zak my youngest is great with the "natural learning" approach. GB 12 needs motivation or he would do nothing. At times I doubt that we are doing enough, he is intelligent but his bookwork is nowhere near your 11 year olds standards. He just does not like writing, art or reading. Going from a totally classical approach to trying to relax has been a huge change for us over the past three years. The homeschool inspector actually suggested I tone it down a couple of years ago as we were doing too much. Now I feel like we are not doing enough. I know they are learning plenty but sometimes I fall into that "what if?" state.

Karisma I do that as well, we have our slacker periods and then it all winds up and we are back into it full steam ahead. We are still very much child led here and they hassle me if we are not doing enough or if we have too long a break. Mr11 thanked me so often this week for starting school again- we only had 2 weeks off and were away and busy for 10 of those days!

Lovely to see you here.
